They are really cracking down on the unauthorized sales at Shanghai. I go nearly monthly and twice now (but not back to back) haven’t seen any. It’s not technically illegal and Disney only has so much they can do, but I have seen the Disney security being more aggressive, even standing in front of, very close, the sellers with a loudspeaker saying “don’t buy from unauthorized sellers”.

I was watching one of your vlogs one day on my computer and my mom asked what I was watching. I told her you were in China and she said she wouldn't step foot in China because of the political climate and not feeling safe. Mind you when she was a kid she lived in Korea, Pakistan, and many more countries that would deemed unsafe now. Once she even had to be secretly evacuated from a country due to a war happening. Personally, I don't know if I would want to go to China. But that's because I would rather go to Japan, Australia, France, or even the UK over China.

And China is a surveillance state. Thus, it is very safe if you aren't breaking the rules. When we were in Tiananmen Square some woman tried to unfurl a banner, protesting something. She was scooped up by the police in 2-3 seconds, and dragged away, which is quite impressive given how ginormous the square is.

I actually don't remember that many squat toilets in my 2 weeks in China. Although maybe I was just used to it after all that time in Central Asia and the Balkans.
